Tour Program;

After picking up our guests from the designated points, we arrive in Edirne around 07:00 in the morning. After having our breakfast, we proceed to Pazarkule Border Gate, our border gate with Greece. After the photo break we give at the border gate, we visit the Meriç Bridge, the Lausanne Monument and the Train Station located on the historic road of the Karaağaç district, which was joined to Turkish territory with the Treaty of Lausanne, and then we visit the Balkan War Martyrs' Memorial, built in memory of our 20,000 soldiers who died of hunger and thirst in Sarayiçi during the Balkan War. After the palace ruins and the historic Kırkpınar Wrestling Arena, we visit the II. Bayezid Complex Health Museum, where mentally ill patients were treated in the 16th century with the sound of water, music and pleasant scents. Then we visit the Şükrü Paşa Monument and the Balkan War Museum, built in honor of Edirne's heroic defender Şükrü Paşa, and have our lunch accompanied by Edirne's unique flavor, Tava Ciğeri.

After lunch, we visit the Selimiye Mosque, built by Mimar Sinan at the age of 80 and called his "masterpiece," the Üç Şerefeli Mosque, famous for its minaret, and the Old Mosque, famous for its inscriptions. After completing our mosque visits, during the shopping break, you can buy Edirne's famous deva-i misk dessert, almond paste, Edirne cheese, the old Edirne tradition of the Mirrored Bride Broom, and local fruit soaps. At 18:00 we complete our Edirne tour and begin the return journey.

ABOUT EDİRNE;

It is a border city located on the highway connecting Turkey to Europe. Edirne was founded on the plain where the Tunca, Arda, and Meriç rivers meet. Continental climate is dominant. It is located alongside Greece and Bulgaria. The city center is 7 km from Greece and 17 km from Bulgaria. Since Edirne is situated in a position connecting Anatolia to Europe, it also has a rich culture. There are 612 historical monuments in the province reflecting Ottoman Turkish culture. Some of these works (such as Selimiye Mosque, Üç Şerefeli Mosque, Caravanserai, Meriç Bridge, Old Mosque, etc.) are still in use, preserving their integrity. A similar number of historical structures are being restored.

The city of Edirne is located in the Thrace region, which forms the southeastern extension of the Balkan Peninsula, near the point where the Tunca and Arda rivers reach the Meriç, within the bend formed before the Tunca joins the Meriç. It is thought that where Edirne is located, the Thracian tribes established an open city or marketplace, which was later expanded by the Macedonians and Romans. When it was reestablished by the Roman Emperor Hadrian (117-138) in the 2nd century, the city was named Hadrianopolis in his honor. In Islamic sources, Hadrianopolis was recorded as "Edrenos" and "Edrenabolu." During the reign of Murad I, the form "Edrene" was adopted, and after being referred to in this way for a long time, it likely began to be pronounced as "Edirne" starting from the 18th century.
