DAY 1

ISTANBUL – ROME

We meet three hours before the flight at the international departures terminal of Sabiha Gökçen Airport. After baggage, ticket, and boarding procedures, we proceed to our private bus waiting for us at the airport following our scheduled AJET Airlines flight to Rome, then depart for a panoramic city tour. Rome, once a magical city that sparkled with endless splendor and was shaped by the winds of history, has been home to the glory of its emperors, the courage of gladiators, and the highest forms of art. On this tour, we will see Castel Sant’Angelo, where Cem Sultan was imprisoned. Castel Sant’Angelo was originally built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum and later transformed into a fortress. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, it was used as a kind of prison and papal stronghold. Another place we will see in Rome is the Colosseum, in the heart of the city, carrying the spirit of ancient times. In this massive arena, brave gladiators and wild animals once engaged in epic battles amid the cheers of the people. After our Colosseum visit, when we approach the Fountain of Lovers, made famous by the film La Dolce Vita, the melody of the water echoes among the dazzling statues. When you make a wish and toss a coin into the fountain, the magic of Rome will never let you go. Because they say that whoever comes here once will surely return one day. Guests who wish may join the Rome Monuments Tour (45€), which our guide will arrange as an extra. In this tour, in the imperial city of Rome, which has shaped European civilization and witnessed 23 centuries of history, you will see the ancient Pantheon temple, one of the city’s oldest monuments, Piazza Navona with its Baroque architecture and famous fountain that has become the city’s most famous square, the Fountain of Love, where legend says that anyone who throws in a coin will return to Rome, the Spanish Steps famous for street artists, and the center of Catholic Christianity, the Vatican (St. Peter’s Square and Basilica). In the evening, return to our hotel and free time for rest.

DAY 2

The lake, resembling the bluest mirror under the sky, is almost like a gateway opening to a world of tales with its calmness and beauty. The Papal Palace in the heart of the town is a symbol of fairy-tale beauty and historical splendor. For centuries, popes have found peace and rested in this magical place. Its gardens and paths filled with colorful flowers will make you feel as if you are in a dream. Nemi is famous for its strawberry fields shining like red jewels. The annual Strawberry Festival is celebrated with colorful festivities. After visiting Nemi, free time in Italy’s most famous outlet area. These outlet centers offer attractive shopping opportunities for both locals and tourists. This square dazzles not only with the tower, but also with the magnificent Duomo Cathedral and Baptistery made of white marble. Each of them showcases the artistic and architectural richness of medieval Italy. After seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the nearby Square of Miracles, we head to San Gimignano. Here stands the San Gimignano Cathedral, built in the 12th century. Inside, you can see magnificent frescoes reflecting the spirit of medieval Italy. Right next to the cathedral is the Town Hall (Palazzo del Popolo). Our next stop is Piazza della Cisterna. This charming square takes its name from the old water cistern in its center. With its stone buildings and historic structures, the square makes you feel as if you are walking through a time tunnel. Here, you can browse small shops selling local products and handmade souvenirs, and taste one of the world’s most delicious ice creams at the famous gelateria (Gelateria Dondoli) on the corner of the square. After the tour, we proceed to Siena. When you arrive in Siena, where neighborhood culture still lives on, the first place we will see is Piazza del Campo, the heart of the city. This wide and sloping square is considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world. In the center of the square stands a marble fountain called Fonte Gaia. The square hosts the famous Palio di Siena horse race, held twice a year. This race is an exciting event where horses from 17 different contrade (neighborhoods) compete. Siena Cathedral (Duomo di Siena) is also among the places to see. This magnificent Gothic structure is covered in white and green marble.
