Day 2 | Vathy Discovery – Taverna Night
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we meet at 16:00 in the location specified by our guide and begin exploring Vathy together with our guide. During our walking tour, which lasts about an hour and a half, we start discovering Vathy. Throughout our enjoyable walk of about an hour and a half, we receive information from our guide about the island’s rich history, daily life culture, the lifestyle of the local people, charming cafés, delicious restaurants, and entertainment spots. As we move through the narrow streets, we witness both the past and the present spirit of Samos up close.
During our walk, we see the island’s only Catholic Church, which is now abandoned. This structure, notable for its silence and mystical atmosphere, becomes one of our special stops shedding light on the island’s multicultural past.
Then we reach Aslanlı Square, considered the heart of the city and the oldest still actively used town square in Samos. Here we see the lion statue, the symbol of the square, and explore the historical texture surrounding it. The Town Hall and Archaeological Museum located around the square are included in our visit as structures bearing important traces of the island’s history.
In the final part of our tour, we complete our tour at the monument of Themistoklis Sofoulis, one of the important figures of modern Greek history, known as Samos’s first President. At this meaningful point, we take souvenir photos and engrave the history-and-culture-filled atmosphere of Vathy into our memories.
During your remaining free time, you can sit at cafés overlooking Vathy, take a walk along the coast, or enjoy the sea.
In the evening, one of the activities that best reflects the spirit of the island awaits you. In our extra Taverna Night program, we have fun in a pleasant atmosphere accompanied by live Greek music. Unlimited uzo and wine are included in the menu served during the evening. Guests who wish may get recommendations from our guide to continue the nightlife at different venues.

Then we turn our route to Kokari, one of the island’s most photogenic spots. After our guide gives a panoramic tour and information about the area, free time is offered here. Guests who wish may enjoy the turquoise sea, walk along the coast, or take wonderful photos against postcard-like views.
Our next stop is Pythagorion, known as the birthplace of the famous mathematician Pythagoras. In this area, which enchants with its historical texture and seaside atmosphere, we tour with our guide; we receive information about Samos Castle, the Transfiguration Church, and the famous Blue Street. After a short walk around the harbor area, we take a photo break in front of the Pythagoras Monument.
Then, free time is offered by the sea for a pleasant meal break at the region’s most popular restaurants. You will have the opportunity to try fresh seafood and the flavors of Greek cuisine.
On the way back, we make a short shopping stop at Lidl, one of Europe’s largest chain supermarkets. Here you can find both affordable products and local flavors.
