Day 2: Geyikli, Bozcaada, Greek Houses, Ayazma Beach, Ancient City of Assos
After the breakfast break we will take along the route in the morning, we depart for Geyikli Pier to cross to Bozcaada. From here, we board the ferry and arrive at Bozcaada after an enjoyable sea journey of approximately half an hour.
Bozcaada, one of the most beautiful islands in the Aegean Sea, offers its visitors a fascinating atmosphere with its historic character, cobblestone streets, and houses bearing traces of Greek architecture. On the island, we first see the Genoese Castle (panoramic), one of Bozcaada’s most important historical structures. We then explore the historic Greek houses by walking through the island’s narrow cobblestone streets.
During the free time in the center of Bozcaada, our guests may have lunch at the island’s famous fish restaurants, walk through the island’s streets, or enjoy some pleasant time along the coast. Guests who wish may visit the island’s famous windmills and Marble Cape, or enjoy the opportunity to swim at Ayazma Beach, one of Bozcaada’s most popular beaches.
Bozcaada is also famous for its vineyards and wine production. During their free time, our guests may purchase locally produced wines and regional products on the island.
We meet again at the designated time, return to Geyikli Pier by ferry, and depart for Assos. Assos, an important settlement center in ancient times, attracts attention with its commanding location overlooking the Gulf of Edremit and its historic character. After reaching Behramkale Village, we walk toward the acropolis of the Ancient City of Assos. Accompanied by our guide’s explanations, we see the Temple of Athena, built in the Doric order during the ancient period, and take a photo break while enjoying the fascinating view of the Gulf of Edremit.
After our visit to the ancient city, during the free time in the village, guests who wish may taste mastic Turkish coffee or purchase regional products.
After our tour, we depart for the hotel where we will stay. Upon arrival at the hotel, we settle into our rooms. After having dinner at our hotel, we have free time to relax and unwind.
Breakfast: Will be taken as an extra along the route.
Lunch: Will be taken independently in Bozcaada.
Dinner: Will be served at the hotel and is included in the tour price.
Accommodation: 4- and 5-Star Regional Hotels in Edremit
Day 3: Cunda Island, Ayvalık Boat Tour (İncirli Island, Aquarium Bay, Ortunç Island)
After having breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of the hotel and
arrive at Cunda Island. Cunda Island is one of the Aegean’s most characteristic settlements, with its cobblestone streets, historic Greek houses, and restaurants lined along the coast. During the free time provided here, our guests can walk through the island’s narrow streets, spend time at cafés along the coast, or try the island’s famous delicacies. Following our visit to Cunda Island, we proceed to Ayvalık Port and begin our full-day Ayvalık boat tour (Extra). During the boat tour, swimming breaks will be provided in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea. Throughout the day, we visit some of the region’s most beautiful bays, such as İncirli Island, Aquarium Bay, and Ortunç Island.
You can swim in these bays, enjoy the sun and the sea, and take plenty of photos.
(For guests who do not wish to join the boat tour, a full day of free time is available on Cunda Island. Guests who wish may swim at the beaches on Cunda Island and explore the island.)
At the final stop of our boat tour, we arrive at Cunda Island, and then, meeting at our vehicle at the designated time, we begin our return journey to Istanbul.
Breakfast: Served at the hotel and included in the tour price.
Lunch: Will be taken independently on Cunda Island.
Dinner: Will be taken as an extra along the route.
What to bring with you?
From Bozcaada’s rugged stone Greek streets to the walls of the Genoese Castle, from the cool waters of Ayazma Beach to the shadowless and steep ancient paths of the Assos Acropolis, from the monumental columns of the Temple of Athena to the cobblestone harbor strip of Cunda Island and the transparent bays of the Ayvalık boat tour, your comfort is the most fundamental determinant of your travel quality on this fast-paced 2-day Aegean trip. Considering the region’s summer climate characteristics, the ground conditions of mountainous ancient cities, and consecutive sea programs, our suitcase guide recommendations prepared by our agency’s operations team are as follows:
1. Shoe Selection for Ancient Cities, Steep Stone Streets, and Ground Conditions In this tour, your choice of footwear directly determines your foot health and travel comfort. The walk to the acropolis area of Assos Ancient City is entirely a steep, rocky, and dirt-path climb. In addition, the streets of Bozcaada and Cunda Island are covered with uneven cobblestones. Therefore, in order to take safe steps and prevent sprains and slips, you should обязательно take with you a light orthopedic walking shoe or a quality outdoor sneaker with a deep tread sole and high grip. For Ayazma Beach in Bozcaada, Ayvalık boat tours, and indoor hotel comfort, a comfortable non-slip beach slipper or sandal should also be in your travel bag.
2. North Aegean Sun, Wind Balance, and Coastal/Beach Equipment On the North Aegean coastline and in open areas such as Assos, you will be exposed to intense sunlight throughout the day. To protect your skin, high-protection-factor (SPF 50+) sunscreens, a quality pair of UV-filtered sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats are indispensable items in your backpack. Since consecutive sea breaks are planned on our tour, you should add at least two spare swimsuits/bikinis and highly absorbent, quick-drying thin microfiber beach towels to your suitcase. For comfort, it is also crucial to have plenty of light cotton, light-colored T-shirts and shorts in case of sweating throughout the day. Do not forget to bring a light cardigan or a thin sweatshirt to protect yourself from the breezy evenings of the North Aegean and the air-conditioning currents on the bus after returning from the sea.
3. Technology, Digital Archive Management, and Power Sources From the monumental columns of the Temple of Athena overlooking the bay to the centuries-old Greek stone houses of Bozcaada and Cunda, from the crystal waters of Aquarium Bay to ferry journey memories, every minute is a visual feast worth photographing. Intensive video/photo shooting, network searches in rural/coastal areas, and navigation use will drain your phone battery three times faster than normal. In order to stay in uninterrupted communication at meeting times with our guide and to immortalize these moments without interruption, it is vital that you add a high-capacity (at least 20,000 mAh) quality Powerbank to your backpack. Waterproof transparent cases can be preferred to protect your devices from beach sand and water.
4. Financial Planning and Local Shopping Preparations Although our tour package includes breakfast and dinner at the hotel, the road breakfast on the first day, all lunches, the road dinner on the last day, museum entrance fees, the extra Ayvalık boat tour fee, and gourmet expenses such as Bozcaada wines, mastic cookies, and Cunda lokma are personal. For ease in shopping and at island stalls, you should carry an adequate amount of cash Turkish Lira (TL) in small denominations (20, 50, 100, 200 TL). Although cards are accepted at major businesses, cash will greatly speed up your transactions at ferry stop kiosks or local island stalls.
As the family of our agency, we wish you pleasant travels in advance on this distinguished journey to the heart of nature, the sea, and the noble Aegean culture!
