🎒 Eastern Anatolia Tour Packing Guide Starting from Bursa
Here are the things you should pay attention to when preparing your suitcase so you can explore the enchanting atmosphere of the East in a comfortable and enjoyable way:
👟 1. Clothing and Shoe Selection
- Comfortable Walking Shoes: For comfortably walking around archaeological sites, historical ruins (such as Ani Ruins), and uneven terrain, preferably a non-slip, high-grip, or lightweight outdoor walking shoe.
- Spare Shoes / Slippers: For comfort on the bus and use at the hotel.
- Layered Dressing (Onion Style): In Eastern Anatolia, the temperature difference between day and night is high. T-shirt, cardigan, and fleece combinations that you can layer are ideal.
- Outerwear According to the Season:
- For spring/winter: Windproof jacket, cardigan, scarf, beanie, and gloves.
- Even for the summer season: Since evenings can be cool, be sure to bring a light jacket or coat with you.
- Clothing for Places of Worship: For visits to historical mosques and madrasahs, female guests are advised to have a shawl/scarf with them.
💳 2. Documents and Cards
- Turkish ID Card: Required for hotel check-ins and security points.
- Museum Card: It is recommended to obtain a Museum Card before traveling in order to save time and protect your budget at museums and archaeological sites affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

🔌 3. Electronics and Personal Items
- Power Bank (Backup Battery): Vital to avoid charging problems during long bus journeys and all-day photo shoots.
- Headphones and Charging Cables.
- Small Backpack: To carry water, your camera, and personal belongings with you on daily excursions.
💊 4. Health and Personal Care
- Regularly Used Medications: If you have a chronic condition, make sure you bring enough medication to last for the duration of the tour.
- Stomach and Motion Sickness Medications: For those sensitive to long and winding mountain roads.
- Sun Protection: At Eastern Anatolia’s high altitude, the sun can be intense. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat should definitely be included.
- Moisturizer and Lip Balm: Since the region’s continental and dry climate can dry out the skin, moisturizing creams are very useful.
- Personal Hygiene Products: Wet wipes, sanitizer, tissues.
💡 Small But Life-Saving Tips
- Cash: Cards may not be accepted in small towns and rest stops; it is useful to have some cash with you in small change and small banknotes.
