After the photo break here, we say goodbye to Sinop and arrive in Samsun, located in the region where the Kızılırmak and Yeşilırmak rivers flow into the sea, where the foundations of the Republic were laid. The first stop of our Samsun tour will be the Atatürk Statue, which has become the symbol of Samsun. After seeing this monument, which was built by Austrian sculptor H. Kriphel in 1931, and taking souvenir photos, we visit the Bandırma Ferry, the ship that brought Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK and his 18 companions to Samsun on May 19, 1919, to start the War of Independence. After a short photo break, the place where Atatürk stepped ashore in Samsun on May 19, 1919 was filled in with rocks during the construction of Samsun Port. What to bring with you?
🌧️ Clothing (The Layering Rule)
- Waterproof Raincoat / Windbreaker: In the Black Sea region, rain can fall at any moment, so a light but protective outer layer is essential.
- Thick Clothing (Fleece, Cardigan, Sweater): Even though the coastal area is warm, when going up to plateaus like Huser, Pokut, and Elevit (especially on sea-of-fog tours or in the evenings), the weather gets significantly colder.
- Comfortable and Flexible Bottom Wear: Sweatpants or flexible trousers for nature walks, waterfall tours, and long bus rides.
- Spare Clothes: Extra T-shirt and trousers in case of getting wet during rafting on Fırtına Creek, ziplining, or waterfall visits.
🥾 Shoes and Socks
- Walking Shoes (Trekking): Plateau roads are rough, rocky, and sometimes muddy. A non-slip, waterproof, ankle-supporting hiking shoe is the most important gear for the tour.
- Comfortable Everyday Shoes: Sneakers for city tours and bus rides.
- Plenty of Spare Socks: Bringing more socks than usual is a lifesaver in case of wet ground and rain.
🎒 Accessories and Equipment
- Day Backpack: A small and light backpack for carrying water, a cardigan, an umbrella, and similar items when getting off the bus and heading up to the plateaus.
- Power Bank (Portable Charger): Since there will be plenty of photos and videos taken in the Black Sea region, phone batteries drain very quickly.
- Umbrella: A practical, foldable umbrella in addition to a raincoat.
- Sunglasses, Hat, and Sunscreen: There will be bright sunny days as well as foggy weather. The risk of sunburn is especially high in high-altitude plateaus.
💊 Health and Documents
- Motion Sickness Medicine: The plateau roads in the Black Sea region are quite steep and winding. Motion sickness pills or gum should definitely be recommended for guests who are sensitive to car sickness.
- Personal Medications: The medications guests use regularly.
- New-Style Turkish ID Card: It must be clearly remembered that IDs need to be the new type, chip-enabled, and with an undamaged photo. A photo is also mandatory on the IDs of infants and children.
